unicornsprinkles: (Once Upon A...)
I've never been a serious gamer but I've always enjoyed video games. I used to play my playstation religiously as a teen and god only knows how many controllers I broke. I had this awesome one that was partially silver, partially see through and vibrated. So cool.

When Farmville first came out, I had my obsession with both it and Frontierville, lost many many hours playing both of those, and probably spent far too much money. My mum would even ring me up to feed or ducks or what-have-you. But then the games changed, they stopped being fun and I didn't play them anymore.

I mostly now play casual games - you know the type: Words With Friends, Candy Crush, Home Design. They while away the commute when I'm not reading. I don't spend any money on them and I'm not bothered if I don't play them. They're just fun when the mood strikes

But in work yesterday, one of the drivers mentioned a website called Big Fish Games. I was a little bored yesterday evening and I checked it out. A game called Roads of Rome II caught my eye - well with a name like that, it would, wouldn't it?

Take up new tricky tasks and overcome dangerous challenges in Roads of Rome 2, an addictive game that successfully combines strategy and time management features!

Caesar, the governor of Rome, has been poisoned, and there's no potion strong enough in the world of mortals that can cure him of his terrible disease. Caesar's daughter Julia is in despair and Victorius, an honorable general, sets out on a long journey to the kingdom of the Gods. The lands of barbarians are full of dangers, so be careful! Clear up your way and build roads, leave gifts and offerings on the Gods' altars and help Victorius find the magic potion that will save Caesar's life. Your quest will be long and difficult, but if you succeed, the Gods are sure to smile down on the citizens of Rome!

They weren't kidding when they called it addictive! I expected I'd just play the hour long trial period and be done with it. Hah! Next thing I knew, the trial was over and I'd got my credit card out! To be fair though, with their new member offer and Thanksgiving code and stuff it only cost me £1.61 so it's not like a huge chunk of cash.

I'm on level 13 already, and it was the first thing I did when I got in from work this evening was play another level!

I can't decide if i'm brave/stupid enough to explore the rest of the website to see what other games are out there are not...
